Meet the Founders

Darryl & Latricia Scriven

Drs. Darryl and Latricia Scriven have been married almost fifteen years and are the proud parents of three beautiful children -- Destini, Faith, and Samuel.  As "The Black Family Doctors," Latricia and Darryl are enthusiastic about and committed to healing and transforming the minds of African Americans through marriage education, financial literacy, family enrichment, and community building.  Their joint mission, as well as that of the Family Enrichment Institute, is to cultivate families that will thrive for generations!

Darryl Scriven, Ph.D.
Darryl Scriven is a graduate of Florida A&M University and earned a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Purdue University.    He has held various faculty positions at Wilberforce University in Ohio and Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA.  Most recently, Dr. Scriven was a Professor of Philosophy and Associate Director of Education at the Tuskegee University National Center for Bioethics in Research and Health Care.  Additionally, he is a gifted writer, lecturer, and public speaker.  Dr. Scriven has authored several books, including academic, self-improvement and fiction, which can be found on Amazon.com.  As co-founder of the African American Family Enrichment Institute, he is dedicated to the empowerment of the Black family and is particularly interested in sustaining healthy relationships.  Learn more about Dr. Scriven at his website: http://docscriven.com. Latricia Edwards Scriven, Ph.D.
Latricia Edwards Scriven is a graduate of Southern University and A&M College and earned a Ph.D. in Educational Foundations and Admini-stration from Purdue University.  She has held faculty positions at Wilberforce University in Ohio, Baton Rouge Community College, and Southern University and A&M College in Baton Rouge, LA.  Dr. Scriven is founder and CEO (Chief Empowerment Officer) of the African American Family Enrichment Institute and is committed to the cultivation of the Black family. She is currently an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Mathematics and Science at Brenau University's Women College and serves on the National Board of Elogeme Adolphi Christian Sorority, Inc. and is passionate about uplifting and empowering women.  In 2008, Dr. Scriven founded Sisters in Spirit, an organization dedicated to helping women become "a sister to all."  Dr. Latricia Edwards Scriven may be contacted directly via email:
